| This picture is actually the last one taken of this CH-53 Sea Stallion as it took off. The wind from this aircraft was so bad and powerful that it was picking up sticks the size of a pencil and throwing them around and hurting people watching it take off. Right before this CH-53 Sea Stallion took off it was joined by two AH-1J Sea Cobras flying from Camp Lejeune to NAS Atlanta. They were doing some really remarkable maneuvers with these birds. They would come in low along the runway, then turn them up and fly straight up like a fixed wing airplane. The CH-53 Sea Stallion took off and they all left. |
