The web page author joined the Utah Army National Guard on 22 January 1991 in response to Iraq's invasions of Kuwait in August of 1990, which started the Gulf War. And so I had to go to US Army active duty basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. While at training I received instruction in how to perform all the duties of a MOS (Military Occupational Specialty) 12B10 Combat Engineer. Where I learn how to communicate, navigate, shoot, survive and give first aid. Latter in advanced training I learned about explosives, demolitions and landmine warfare.

This picture of my training platoon is too large for my scanner so I had to scan each half left and right.

While training at Fort Leonard Wood we were not authorized to take pictures. So I will have to go back to Fort Leonard Wood and take pictures of the training areas as they are at that time.

Here is a copy of our training book that we were issued at basic. It is very similar to a Boy Scout Handbook. We learned first aid, how to use a map and compass and how to communicate with radios and flashlights.
